Located in Castelletto, a subzone of Monforte d’Alba, one of the eleven towns where it is possibile to produce Barolo. It is among these vineyard-covered hills that Sara Vezza finds her home. On the hill of Castelletto, extending over a total of five hectares of vineyards, mainly cultivated with Nebbiolo, the Sara Vezza grows its vines and, harvest after harvest, tells a story of excellence.
Their winery is Josetta Saffirio and they are located in Montforte d’Alba. The family has a long history both as farmers of the land and as wine producers. Sara got her start early and has been going strong every since. She is the fifth generation to produce wines and she now has her own label as well, Azienda Agricola Sara Vezza. Sara’s labels are the ones with the four symbols which represent earth, fire, water and air. Sara is innovative not just with her labels but also in her practices in the vineyard producing organic wines and moving towards Bio-Dynamics!
We are very fortunate to have a small allocation of her Nebbiolo D'Alba and her Barolo Raverna. These wines are incredible difficult find around the world as only tiny amounts are produced. Have a look:

17/20 points Jancis Robinson MW
Smells of dark-red roses and wild cherries, and it smells of that moment when you lift up a log of wood in a forest and the underneath earth and mushrooms and decaying leaves and the scent of mycorrhizal life comes rushing up and fills your nostrils with something so deep that you can feel its primeval resonance in your veins. Racy elegance and purity. So much purity! This made my spine tingle. A 'simple' Nebbiolo d'Alba and yet a wine imbued with miyabi beauty. This wine has a calm, gentle but purposeful soul. Brava Sara! Drink 2022 – 2027. Sara Vezza comes from a long line of Piemonte winemakers, running the family winery Josetta Saffirio. This is her first foray into making wine in her own name.

2018 Sara Vezza Barolo DOCG Ravera
6X750 – 210 Bottles Imported SKU #402999 $92.97 Wholesale Spec
The Ravera vineyard in Monforte D'Alba is much higher than the Ravera Crus in Novello and Barolo. This was a shortcoming in the past, because the ripeness of the berries was not always optimal due to the cooler climate.
However, this seems to have changed in recent years due to climate change. Sara Vezza and other winegrowers are benefiting from the changed conditions and have noticed a significant increase in quality.
The hand picking of the grapes usually takes place in October and the carefully selected berries are lightly pressed and destemmed. Fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 30°/ 32°. Then the aging begins, which initially begins for the wine in barriques and after 24 months the Barolo is then placed in a cement tank for half a year. Finally, the wine is then stored in the bottle during the final phase of maturation.
