96 points Wine Spectator 2016 Podere Brizio Brunello release

We have just received our last allocation of the incredible top scoring 2016 Podere Brizio Brunello! Our last release sold out on the day of. Brunello at this price is hard to find. Top scoring Brunello at this price is ever rarer!!

We made this Brunello di Montalcino from our vineyards located in the southwest of Montalcino at an altitude of 300- 350 meters above sea level facing the sea and the Maremma. This is Montalcino’s hottest area. Here the soil consists of sandstone and rocky marl, which allows the production of well-structured, mineral wines.

Ruby red with garnet highlights. Opulent and intense on the nose, with nuacnes of ripe red fruit and intriguing herbal notes. Well-balanced on the palate with a lively acidity. Rounded tannins distinguish the body of this fine wine. A hint of black pepper accompanies the finish. The softest of tannins are a hallmark of the body of this fine wine.

96 Points

96 points Wine Spectator Rose, currant and cherry aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this pretty red. Wild herb, graphite and tobacco accents add depth, and this cruises to a lingering aftertaste of red fruit and mineral. Delicate, yet tense and structured.(BS)(3/2021)

95 points Decanter Established in 2013 by the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards Group, the Podere Brizio estate sits on the South-West facing Montalcino hills, in a unique setting nestled among olive groves. With 11.5 hectares of vineyards in Montalcino's hottest area, the winery focuses on sustainable viticulture philosophies and true expression of terroir within the wines. The hand harvested grapes are traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts, before ageing for 12 months in large untoasted French oak casks. Nicolas Clerc MS: Precise nose, superb and floral. Elegant and delicate berry fruit, with racy mineral complexity. Balanced, harmonious and long. A class act. Aldo Fiordelli: Extremely well balanced wine with bergamot notes and an almost orange peel tinge. Slightly austere on the tannins, however not without character. Very classic. Susan Hulme MW: Sweet black cherry aromas, almost toffee-like sweetness too. Rich, ripe and complete without being heavy. Lots of savoury tannins and juicy, mouthwatering acidity to keep freshness. Really appealing, yet serious too. (Panel Tasting) (10/2019)

94 points James Suckling This is a cooler style of Brunello with blueberries, black cherries, crushed stones and lavender. It’s full-bodied withfirm, tight tannins. Yet, it opens at the end to pinpointed fruit and tannins. Give this time to soften. Try after 2024. (11/2020)
